In Ceyreste, the local government continues its work to create a senior center and a community center, mainly to accommodate the music school.
This construction project is closely followed with great interest by all the residents of Ceyreste, as it is located along the road that runs alongside the town hall square, allowing everyone to see the progress of the facade work. Observers have witnessed the stone cladding taking shape day by day, and admired the finished result. It’s safe to say that it’s looking very stylish!
However, what is not visible to the passing eye is the lower floor, which will be occupied by the music school and remains attached to the very steep slope below the parking lot. This is not surprising, as the village is largely built on the hillside and expands comfortably on its terraced land supported by dry stone walls.
The stone facade of the senior center is a nod to this uniqueness. The facility will be fully accessible to people with reduced mobility, in accordance with the municipality’s commitment to inclusion and legal requirements.
Access to the senior center, located on the 2nd floor, has recently benefited from a complete repaving, now completed, as mentioned by Ludovic Groux, head of the technical services. A safety railing will soon secure the entrance. The new public restrooms are also completed and will be accessible via a wooden walkway.
On the other hand, the City of Ceyreste continues its development by building a rock wall near the future senior center. These works aim to reinforce the road along the site, ensuring better stability of the land and the safety of users.
The completion of the rock wall is expected before the end of the school holidays on February 27th. The rock wall will vary in height along its length, reaching about 4 meters at its highest point. Following this, a suspended walkway will be installed to provide wheelchair access to the music school, a sight one looks forward to experiencing.
“This new space,” Ludovic Groux adds, “will offer entirely new spaces, including a suspended balcony that will also help reduce the visual impact of the building’s volume and better integrate it into its surroundings. Enedis connection works on the road will be carried out during week 12, between March 16 and 20. The date of the final connection has not yet been announced, a necessary step for the complete acceptance of the project.”
Both levels will have air conditioning. Each will have a kitchenette, and there will be a video projector in the senior center. An anti-intrusion alarm will be installed in both spaces. With these transformative projects, the City of Ceyreste aims to strengthen both social ties and the cultural offerings of the municipality.
