Plozévet has once again vibrated to the rhythm of metal! Saturday May 23, metalheads had the pleasure of seeing the legendary American group Coven on stage. Recomposed by its emblematic singer Jinx Dawson, Coven delivered a real black mass. In the festival aisles, we crossed paths with Chris, guitarist of the recently reformed group.
Chris, or CVon by his stage name, told the story of Coven (clan of wizards), a legendary American group from Chicago, launched before Black Sabbath. Formed at the end of the 60s right in the hippie period, he was the first to show the devil’s horns among the V of peace and love. The group’s first album? “Witchcraft Destroys Minds and Reaps Souls.” Quite a program.
The group was and still is led by Jinx Dawson. At 76 years old, the singer writes all her lyrics, inspired by stories heard in her native Indiana.
Jinx Dawson, « la boss »
Chris, who joined the reformed group in 2016, like the other four musicians, has a real cult of Jinx, the iconic singer. “She’s the boss, we do everything to make her happy and because she deserves it,” he says. Arriving in Plozévet on Thursday after a long journey from Boston, Coven will then play in Paris, then in Sweden at other festivals. Before returning to Indiana, where Chris will once again put on his cooking apron in a steak house. He concludes the interview with: “The most important thing in life is music.”
