Angina pectoris: We attended the concert of the mysterious masked duo

They are called Angina de pectoris, originally from Saguenay, Quebec, formed by the mysterious Khn de Chest and Klek de Chest. Behind their enormous black and white polka dot masks, the two musicians cultivate mystery and refuse to reveal their identity.

The group was born in 2019 after years of music between friends, but their project quickly gained momentum. Khn plays on a modified double-neck guitar while Klek accompanies everything with constantly changing drums. The duo describes their style as “Dada Pythago-Cubist mantra-rock”.

Unexpected breakthrough on YouTube

For several years, Angina remained an underground phenomenon on the Quebec scene. But everything explodes in 2026 when a live performance produced for American radio KEXP goes viral on YouTube. Internet users from all over the world then discover their performances, their costumes and their ultra original pieces. The video racked up millions of views in just a few weeks and transformed the duo into an international phenomenon.

Their first album “Vol. I”, released in 2024, had already attracted attention thanks to pieces like “Sherpa”, which had become cult among fans of experimental rock. But it is with “Vol. II”, released in 2026, which the group moves into another dimension. Tracks like “Fabienk”, “Mata Zyklek” or “Sarniezz” go viral on Spotify and social networks, propelling Angina pectoris among the most shared groups of the moment.

The phenomenon is then on everyone’s lips, even the New York Times salutes their originality and their ability to transform chaos into a musical experience. Today, Angine de pectoris has become one of the most unexpected Quebec groups of recent years with a colossal European tour and sold-out venues in America.

Having attended their show on Wednesday May 15 at the Great Escape Festival in Brighton, England, we can only recommend one thing: go see the most influential experimental group of the moment.
