Some have rightly highlighted the economic links that exist between certain Quebec university institutions and the Israeli state, although this state is now considered a genocidal state by several experts, NGOs and UN officials. united. Others have rightly criticized La Caisse’s participation in financing companies supplying military equipment to Israel. Many opposed the decision of the Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) to open a Quebec office in Tel Aviv. It was also necessary to denounce the role played by the company General Dynamics, located in Valleyfield, which sells equipment to the United States, while the United States then takes care of handing it over to the State of Israel.
But now Quebec representatives are taking our involvement in the war to another level by showing themselves in favor of the installation in Montreal of the Bank of Defense, Security and Resilience (DSR Bank), an institution that serves no purpose other than financing the war.
This would be responsible for bringing together the necessary funds allowing NATO countries to increase their investments in military equipment to 5% of their GDP. The decision to install it in Montreal would directly clash with the approach of those who, from a perspective driven by pacifist ideals, are opposed to the ongoing militarization. The stakes now go beyond those that link us to the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by Israel in Gaza, since we would now participate more than ever in the escalation of the militarization of the West against Russia, in addition to our military commitments that already exist in favor of Israel in the Middle East.
Do we have any idea why the Europeans – and particularly the French, usually so chauvinistic and protectionist – had the idea of hosting the head office of Bank DSR in a Canadian city like Montreal? For exactly the same reasons as in 1941, when they moved capital, production mandates and arms factories to Canada. Of course, this was certainly not out of benevolence, it was to keep them as far away as possible from the German bombs.
Now, what will be the first reflex of the Russians in two or three years, when Europe believes itself ready to wage war against Russia, if not to start by blowing up the bank which is financing this war? Ukraine recently launched around 1,000 drones on Russia, including a massive wave of nearly 600 drones sent simultaneously, only between May 17 and 18 in the morning! This operation, one of the largest in the conflict, targeted 14 Russian regions, including Moscow. How long will the Russians tolerate this, knowing full well that these drones are manufactured in Poland, Germany, France and the United Kingdom, and that they are configured by NATO?
Have you noticed what happened to the countries of the Persian Gulf, co-belligerents of the United States and Israel in their strikes on Iran? Have you not noticed that Canada, with more than 28 billion dollars invested in Ukraine, already positions itself as a co-belligerent, which has certainly not escaped Moscow’s attention? What will happen when we host this defense bank?
As the main bankers of NATO’s defense, security and resilience, we would be the first target, especially since we would be just as proactive in manufacturing the bombs that will rain on Moscow. Given that the speed of Russia’s hypersonic missiles, according to some sources, is between Mach 20 and Mach 24 (between 24,000 and 33,000 km/h), it would only take these machines a maximum of 14 minutes to travel 5,507 km (the equivalent of the distance between Montreal and Montreal). and Paris). And this, while no existing defense system can stop such missiles!
We are no longer in 1940. Faced with the unconsciousness of European leaders, only a quarter of an hour – at best – would separate us from the worst in a world war that they seem to hope for. The difference with the Second War is that this time we would be on the front line!
The presence in Montreal – and more generally in Canada – of Bank DSR would make us a very clear target. This war bank would be used to rake in the billions that European hawks want to see as far away as possible from their own capitals. All this for a handful of jobs serving bomb makers who got rich on mountains of corpses during the two great world conflicts of the 20th century.e siècle.
Quebec’s involvement in the installation of this bank in Montreal would be added to the 180 billion dollars that Canada plans to invest in military equipment over the next 10 years. In this context, the arrival of the DSR Bank in Montreal would be a sort of apotheosis of the hawkish posture recently adopted.
It is dismaying to see Quebec showing such interest and pride in participating in such a direct manner in such a disastrous “war effort”.
