Silent Jill recounts a terrifying memory from her childhood
Since her participation in the fifth season of Star Academy in 2005, Jill Vandermeulen has built a solid career on social media. Under the pseudonym Silent Jill, she today brings together a large community around videos devoted to the paranormal, mysteries and criminal cases. On the occasion of the release of her book But How Do You Do? published by Leduc, the young woman agreed to look back on several significant events in her life. Among them, an attempted kidnapping that occurred when she was a child. The former Star Academy candidate explains that a car suddenly stopped in front of her garage. Very quickly, she felt a deep unease in front of the driver. “The driver immediately instilled in me a deep, instinctive fear,†she confides. The man then allegedly asked him to come closer, before aggressively insisting when he refused. Panicked, Jill Vandermeulen then decides to flee. She says she rolled down the entrance to the garage on roller skates before falling heavily to the ground. Despite the shock, she managed to reach home to warn her mother. When the latter opens the door, the individual would have already gotten out of his vehicle and was observing the scene through a window of the home.
A scene marked by fear and worry
Faced with the mother, the man would have tried to quickly justify himself. “He pretended to have the wrong house, then he took off like a bullet,†says Silent Jill. In shock, the young girl’s relatives did not have time to note the vehicle’s license plate. This episode had a lasting impact on the influencer, who still remembers the fear felt that day. The scene took place in a particularly anxious context in Belgium and France. At that time, the criminal cases linked to Michel Fourniret and Marc Dutroux were widely in the news and fueled family concern. Even today, Jill Vandermeulen has very vivid memories of this traumatic event. In her work, she chooses to return directly to this experience in order to share a more intimate part of her story.
