36 billion more for the Defense budget: Is France falling into a war economy?
The National Assembly adopted yesterday at first reading, a text which provides an additional 36 billion euros for the future armies, until 2030. This text completes the military programming law passed two years ago, in a context which was already that of the war in Ukraine, and which planned 410 billion euros in spending for the period 2024–2030.
The central bloc, LR, the PS and the RN voted for, i.e. 440 votes, the Insoumis and the ecologists voted against, 122 votes.
Emmanuel Moulin for the Banque de France: Is the Head of State abusing his power of appointment?
High-risk hearing today for Emmanuel Moulin, the former secretary general of the Élysée whom Emmanuel Macron wishes to appoint as governor of the Bank of France, replacing François Villeroy de Galhau. Emmanuel Moulin is heard this Wednesday morning by members of the finance committees of the National Assembly and the Senate. If a three-fifths majority opposes his candidacy, it will be rejected. However, after LFI and the RN, it was the socialist deputies who announced yesterday that they would vote against his nomination.
