Cécile de Ménibus évoque sa famille décimée : “My aunt was murdered, my little brother, my sister and my father also died”

Pour Gala.fr Cécile de Ménibus agreed to return on the many tragedies that punctuated his life. “My aunt was murdered, my little brother, my sister and my father also died. I had a very complicated life for years. When I was little, it was very hard and very heavy.”she revealed to our colleagues. Fortunately, the one who celebrated her 55th birthday last September can still rely on her mother, of which she declares with tenderness that she is “formidable”. In 2020, in his first novel I would like to take everything from herpublished by Éditions Charleston, Cécile de Ménibus had lifted the veil on a part of her family history. In this intimate work, she retraced the destiny of her mother, struck in particular by the death of two of her children. Catherine, the mother of Cécile de Ménibus, in fact first lost a two-year-old son, following an accidental fall of fifteen meters, before seeing her first born disappear in 2015.

A drama already discussed by Cécile de Ménibus who explained: “We were fifteen months apart, she was the eldest. Mom nous a élevées de la méme maniére (…) Then we had opposite trajectories.” It doesn’t stop it. The memory of her sister remains vivid, and each year that passes is an opportunity to pay tribute to her. “10 years… Time passes, but it fills nothing. He just learns to love differently, to feel your presence in another way.” she wrote in March 2025, to commemorate the sad anniversary of the disappearance of her eldest child.

Cécile Ménibus on the suicide of her sister: “If I don’t talk about it, I’ll make her die again.”

Why does she keep coming back to scratch this still raw scar? Because without doubt Cécile de Ménibus cannot do otherwise: “When I think of my sister, everyone says to me: ‘We’re not going to talk about it because it’s sad’. But if I don’t talk about it, it’s because I’m making her die again! So I talk about it all the time. But I don’t want to experience it as a tragedy. My sister is here, she is with me, my little brother, everyone I’ve lost.”

However, there is no desire to lock oneself into unhappiness. “All this must be transformed, otherwise it is useless. I experienced tragedy, it was very violent, especially losing my sister, who was almost a twin sister. “It all has to be useful for something.” she insisted.
