Fabien Onteniente opts for an unusual lifestyle with his wife in the 5th arrondissement of Paris
Happiness as a couple does not necessarily imply sharing the same bed, or even the same floor. Fabien Onteniente is living proof of this. At 68 years old, the director of Camping and his wife Nathalie Dupuis, journalist, each have their own apartment. What do they have in common? Both live a stone’s throw from Place Maubert, in the 5th arrondissement of Paris.as you cinéaste l’a confié ères de Libération this Monday, May 18, 2026.
The 5th arrondissement, Fabien Onteniente has appreciated it for a long time. The cinemas on rue des Écoles, the bookstores on every street corner… It was here, in the 80s that he set down his bags well before experiencing success. His career was built on popular comedies. Jet Set in 1999, with Samuel Le Bihan, then especially Camping in 2006 with Franck Dubosc, which remains to this day his biggest box office success with 5 million admissions.
“Sleep divorce”, a trend that also appeals to other celebrities
His private life is just as lively. In 1987, he married actress Souad Amidou, with whom he had a son, Enzo. The couple separated in 1991. He remarried in December 2002 to Elsa Wolinski, daughter of the designer Georges Wolinski. Then, in 2018, he married Nathalie Dupuis. Today, he justifies having a “separate apartment”: “If I get up in the middle of the night to write, I don’t want to hear: ‘What are you doing?'” a-t-il confié à Libération.
Fabien Onteniente and Nathalie Dupuis are far from being an exception in the world of celebrities. Jean-Jacques Debout and Chantal Goya are the most lasting example. After nearly 60 years together, the composer told the magazine Here Paris in 2024: “We had separate rooms from the start.” And to add, with humor: “If others had followed our example, lawyers would have had less work.”
Laurent Voulzy and writer Isaure Le Faou have also opted for everyone at home since their meeting in 2018. “When we get together, it’s almost a party,” summed up the singer’s companion with Gala.fr. Another example, that of Thierry Ardisson and Audrey Crespo-Mara. So much proof that lasting love is sometimes combined in the plural of addresses and/or rooms.
