Over 50,000 households left without electricity after Russian strikes
Russian strikes carried out on Saturday in the Zaporizhia region in southern Ukraine left 47,000 households without electricity. By the evening, 8,000 households had their power restored. Energy infrastructure was targeted. Saturday morning saw most residents of the Chernihiv oblast (north of Ukraine) also without electricity after a Russian drone attack.
Russian army bombs kindergarten in Sumy
The Russian army targeted a kindergarten in Sumy, Ukraine on Saturday, as announced by the city council on Telegram. Thankfully, the school was empty when the drone struck.
Ukraine/US talks to continue in Miami on Sunday
Peace talks that resumed on Saturday between Ukraine and the United States, without Russia, will continue on Sunday in Miami, Florida (United States). American envoy Steve Witkoff praised the “constructive meetings.” He stated that “discussions focused on resolving outstanding issues to move closer to a comprehensive peace agreement.” Comment from Volodymyr Zelensky in his daily TV address: “The key question is to understand the extent to which Russia is prepared to truly work towards ending the war, and if it is willing to do so honestly and with dignity.”
