With the arrival of the new opuses, the universe of 28 is experiencing a real resurgence in popularity. Historical fans return to a Britain ravaged by the Fury virus, while a new generation discovers this modern zombie classic. Here’s where to (re)see the franchise.

More than twenty years after the release of the first film, whether in reality or in the timeline of the franchise, the infected continue to be talked about. It’s surely one of the most influential zombie stories of the modern era, having inspired other classics like The Walking Dead, I Am Legend ou même The Last of Us. And this is likely to last for a while since a new trilogy is being released. For those who wish to (re)watch all of the films to prepare for the release of the next opus, here is where to find them on the different platforms.

28 Days Later

Released in 2002 and directed by Danny Boyle, 28 Days Later is the film that relaunched the zombie genre in cinema. The story follows Jim (Cillian Murphy), a young man who wakes up from a coma in a deserted London after the spread of a virus transforming humans into extremely violent creatures. Thanks to its nervous and deliberately raw staging, as well as its now cult soundtrack, the film remains today an absolute reference in horror cinema. Cillian Murphy also delivers one of his first major on-screen performances.

To see or rewatch this classic, go to Prime Video or the Box SFR VOD platform.

28 Weeks Later

Five years after the first film, 28 Weeks Later presents an England placed under military control after the catastrophe. Directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, this second part focuses more on large-scale action and chaos, which we will later find in other films like World War Z. We follow a family trying to survive while a new contamination threatens to plunge the country back into horror.

28 Weeks Later is currently available on Prime Video and Disney+.

28 years later

Highly awaited by fans, 28 years later marks the big return of Danny Boyle and screenwriter Alex Garland. As its title indicates, this new chapter takes place several decades after the events of the previous films and shows a world profoundly transformed by the virus, further from what we are used to seeing in the genre. More visually and narratively ambitious, this third part is the first in a trilogy.

Released in cinemas in June 2025, 28 years later is currently only available on VOD from SFR.

28 Years Later: The Temple of the Dead

Direct suites of previous opus, 28 Years Later: The Temple of the Dead continues the exploration of this universe, which becomes even darker and brutal. The film delves deeper into the consequences of the virus on survivors and develops new threats in a world where the rules of humanity have completely changed. We find codes from more generic post-apocalyptic stories like Mad Max or Twisted Metal.

Released on January 26 in cinemas, 28 Years Later: The Temple of the Dead has been available for digital purchase since May 14 on the SFR VOD platform. It will also be available for rental from May 20.
