The Moulins FC has remained uninvolved in the final stretch of the season despite their promotion to National 3 (which will be renamed National 2) being secured for about a month now. “We savored and celebrated together,” rejoiced coach Mohamed Akki. “It was a relief and a reward.”

Nevertheless, the newly promoted team did not plan to coast through the end of the season: “We set ourselves the goal of playing to the max to avoid distorting the championship. We won our last two matches. We continue to work. We want to take advantage of this time, it’s a luxury to prepare for next season.”

After enjoying a prolonged weekend granted by their staff, the Moulins team will face a more intense end of the week with two matches within less than 48 hours. Akki believes, “There was decompression after winning the title, and it’s normal and human. We need to get back to work.”

The first match will be against Stade Montois on Thursday, May 14th, for the 8th finals of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Cup, followed by a game on Saturday, May 16th against Bressuire, their runner-up in R1. These risky away matches will offer little rest for the TFC team.

In the Landes, the Moulins team anticipates a tricky match: “They are first in R2 and are expected to move up to R1. Every team wants to beat us. There will be some rotation for this match, and I will field the best team to try to win in Bressuire and continue our away winning streak. I will use around 22 players in the two games.”

If Moulins’s regional cup journey continues, the regular R1 group will not compete until the end, yielding their place to a revamped team, as some players will be on vacation to kickstart the next season in summer.
