It is a click that launched him into this adventurous journey. So, in his twenties, he was surprised not to find music score outlets for his choir. As a result, he decided to open his own shop in Bordeaux in 1981. Then, in 1986, he moved to Rue Bouffard and added three more stores dedicated to drums, wind instruments, and guitars. “I was settling in the antique dealers’ museum!” he said humorously.

The arrival of Virgin Megastore with its huge music section could have scared the merchant. On the contrary, he resisted. “I knew that people would prefer small places.” Bet won. To be even closer to customers, he decided to open a 100-square-meter space dedicated entirely to music in Bacalan, in the last hangar on the docks: Prima musical. “This new space attracted all ages, amateurs or professionals from the surrounding area.” It offered the full range of products that Bernard Brochard separately proposed in his downtown shops.

Like a conductor, he managed both small ensembles with his specialized shops on Rue Bouffard and a large orchestra with his space in Bacalan. He wanted people, especially young people, to see, touch, play, and take ownership of the instruments in each location.
