President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine stated on Monday that the hostilities with the Russian army continue despite a three-day ceasefire negotiated by the United States, accusing Russia of not wanting to end the four-year-long war. “Today, there was no silence on the front, there were battles. We have noticed it all,” Zelensky declared in his evening address, in the final hours of the truce.

“We also see that Russia has no intention of ending this war. Unfortunately, they are preparing for new attacks,” he regretted. Both Russians and Ukrainians have mutually accused each other of violating the ceasefire from Saturday to Monday, as announced by President Trump. Zelensky also mentioned that his chief negotiator, Rustem Oumerov, briefed him on recent “political” and “technological” meetings in the United States.

“It is clear that the situation in Iran is currently attracting the most attention from America,” he lamented. “But there is also support from the American people to end this war in Europe.” Negotiations between Russia and Ukraine have so far yielded no results and have been overshadowed by the Middle East conflict. Despite this, the ceasefire announcement had raised some hope for the resumption of talks.
