Friday May 8, the municipal band and photographer Virginie Thibault conquered the Joinville village hall during a unique visual concert.

In front of a record audience, the 49 musicians led by Daniel Carlier combined melodies and projections. This meeting will remain historic after the announcement of the departure of the conductor, who will leave his functions after 45 years of service. From the first notes, a mysterious atmosphere enveloped the room, carried by an original stage device where a screen giant towered over the orchestra.

This 2026 edition left its mark with its perfect alliance between melodies and images. To the rhythm of the instruments, spectators discovered shots of wild animals on the themes of “The Lion King”, aerial views of Joinville on the Marches by John Williams or even celestial landscapes illustrating “The Milky Way”. The finale, dedicated to aviation on the track “Zeus†, particularly marked the audience with its power.

The end of an era for the orchestra

This artistic communion triggered general enthusiasm. Some hailed “a wonderful moment of magic”, while others said they were “blown away” by the beauty of the Haut-Marne landscapes thus highlighted. “When music and image come together, it’s wonderful,†summed up one spectator. “The finale brought incredible intensity,” added a resident, delighted to discover her town from a new angle. However, the emotion changed in nature at the end of the program. Daniel Carlier officially announced his departure, effective after July 14. After 45 years of dedication, he left office for personal reasons. “I’m not giving up on music!”, he said to reassure a moved audience, specifying that he had “thought carefully” about his decision. Greeted with long applause, the chef leaves an indelible mark on local history. Bertrand Ollivier concluded the evening by guaranteeing the future of the structure: “This ensemble will not remain an orphan, we will continue to support the harmony and the music school. HAS”
