In Falaise, the Entracte cinema celebrates its 35th anniversary

No attendance record for the Entracte cinema in Falaise (Calvados) but a drop of 17.20% for the year 2025.

“That’s 6,065 fewer entries for a program of 283 films including 180 Arthouse films and 937 screenings set up,” announced Carole Laidet, the new elected president, during the general meeting of the Entract’Animations association, Wednesday April 29, 2026.

The reasons? “We didn’t have a supporting film and the weather didn’t help us, it didn’t rain enough.” Despite everything, we can highlight 1,500 entries for the youth film Zootopiafollowed by Bodin’s are going into a tailspin with 894 entries, from Lilo & Stitch 788 entrees, God save the Tuche showing 748 entries and Paddington au Pérou with 552 entries.

Programming and entertainment

The Entracte cinema is a magnificent tool with the sole aim of making cinematic culture accessible to all inhabitants of the Pays de Falaise.

Culture is about being curious, uniting, being free, transmitting, discovering other worlds, thinking, marveling. Culture awakens the senses, it brings people together and allows debate.

And to do this, the doors of the cinema are open to hearing and hard of hearing people, people with reduced mobility, nursing homes, schools, colleges, high schools, associations or institutions with a project to defend and broadcast on the big screen.

“It is important that this room retains its educational function for educational establishments.†Thus, 4,965 schoolchildren, from nursery school students to high school students, came to attend sessions during the year “as part of an education policy for cinema and images.”

As part of a programming agreement with the Lux cinema in Caen (with Ouistreham, Douvres-la-Délivrande, …), the Entracte offers several films per week, half of which is Art House.

This allows the Falaisian cinema to have films on national release, in preview, to offer surprise favorites, cinema filous snacks for the youngest, classics on the big screen, senior films or even to participate in national events such as the Spring of Cinema, the Cinema festival or judicial film festival.

Also new things like meeting the actor Jacques Gamblin in January, the live film concert of the young rapper Hug* in July. A programming of films and animations which can be done “thanks to a team of 18 volunteers and 3 employees who go out of their way to bring the cinema to life, apart from simple programming.”

The association’s auditor, Kévin Dewaële, highlighted this volunteer work: “3 8 92 hours at 18.77 €, a total unspent for the association of 73,053 €”.

This year, the Entracte cinema will celebrate its 35th anniversary and surprises are being announced throughout the coming months.
