Iran warns, this Sunday, May 10, of an “immediate response” in the event of French and British deployment in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi warned on Sunday of a “decisive and immediate response” from the army in the event of French and British deployment in the Strait of Hormuz, after the announcement by Paris and London of the sending of military buildings in the region.

“We remind them that in times of war as in times of peace, only the Islamic Republic of Iran can ensure security in this strait and that it will not allow any country to interfere in this area,” Mr. Gharibabadi said on X.

The UK and France are at the forefront of building an international coalition to secure the Strait of Hormuz, once a US-Iran peace deal is reached.

Emmanuel Macron répond

Shortly after this statement by the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister, Emmanuel Macron responded to Iran’s warning regarding France’s presence in the Strait of Hormuz.

The President of the Republic assures that France has “never considered” a “deployment” in the Strait of Hormuz.
