The députée Josy Poueyto inaugurated the 4th edition of the Fête des plants. D. Rispal
Highlight of the day, the group’s green spaces team was in the spotlight. Its members were presented with a letter of congratulations from Chief Commissioner 2nd Class Pugibet, saluting a remarkable commitment in the face of an exceptional situation.
Following the violent storms that occurred in February, these personnel worked tirelessly to restore a nominal situation on all of the department’s bases, barracks and regiments.
Nearly 4,800 staff
Beyond the event itself, this celebration illustrates the essential role of the Police Station Support Group (GSC), whose slogan “Nourishing the action” takes on its full meaning here. With nearly 4,800 civilian and military personnel supported within the defense base, the GSC ensures large-scale logistical missions: some 500,000 meals served each year, partly from local products, the management of seven restaurants, the maintenance of 290 liaison vehicles, and the distribution of 12 000 clothing packages and 22,000 combat rations. In total, nearly six million euros are committed annually to 370 suppliers.
The Plant Festival was also an opportunity to highlight the region’s partners, such as the Agrocampus 64 in Montardon, the municipal greenhouses of Pau, the Château de Pau and the Family and Rural House of Dax-Oeyreluy, under the Ministry of Agriculture. The latter has also announced the upcoming opening of a defense class with GSC Pau from the start of the school year, a sign of an ever closer rapprochement between the educational world and military institutions.
