The four signatories of the press release, who send their condolences to the wife and children of the deceased, retrace the film-loving journey of Yves Jardin: “In 1975, he was a member of the film-loving collective which firmly believed in the virtues of popular education and which decided to revive the MJC film club. Collective which would later give birth to the fundamentals of today’s Douarneist cinema and audiovisual media. In 1978, he was one of the creators of the Douarnenez National Minority Film Festival, with which he was associated for a long time for programming. In 1982, he participated in the creation of the Daoulagad Breizh association of which he was president for around fifteen years. Then in 1986, with Bernard Séverac, teachers at the Jean-Marie Le Bris high school, they helped to give momentum and coherence to the cinema option from its creation. Option of which he was the professor of cinema history, until the day of his retirement.
The authors of the press release assure us, “without the commitment of Yves Jardin, there would undoubtedly not be, today, this ecosystem so intense for cinema and audiovisual in Douarnenez”. The funeral of Yves Jardin will take place on Tuesday May 12, at 10:30 a.m., at the church of Saint-Herlé, in Douarnenez.
