He said stop. In a few days, former rugby international Jules Plisson will hang up his boots and put an end to his long and successful career. The announcement was made Thursday evening following the Pro D2 match won by his Provence club against Vannes (34-31).
To mark the occasion and pay tribute to its player, the Aix-en-Provence club published on its social networks a moving video where we see Plisson crossing a guard of honor with his child in his arms and with the testimonies of many personalities from the world of ovals.
Among them, his former partners, his “brothers” (Jonathan Danty, Sébastien Bézy, Romain Sazy), the coach Gonzalo Quesada, who coached him at the Stade Français, or the former coach Philippe Saint-André who underlines “the end of a magnificent career.”
A career marked by 18 selections for the French team, a French champion title in 2015 and a European Championship (European Challenge) in 2017 with Stade Français.
Born in Neuilly-sur-Seine 34 years ago, “Pliss”, one of his nicknames, also wore the jersey of La Rochelle, Clermont and finally Provence Rugby.
“After nearly 15 years spent in French rugby, Jules Plisson chose Maurice-David this evening (Thursday) to announce the end of his career, specifies the Aix club. Beyond the field, he gave the group a lot, by supporting our young players on a daily basis, a real chance for them to grow alongside him. Thank you for everything Jules…
The video with the testimonies was broadcast on the stadium’s giant screens while Plisson, in tears and with his child in his arms, received tribute from the entire stadium in the middle of the field. A moment full of emotion.
