A suspect arrested for shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner revealed that he planned to target Trump administration officials. The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Cole Allen, of Torrance, Calif., had prepared a manifesto and shared anti-Trump and anti-Christian messages on social media. During the event, Allen rushed a Secret Service checkpoint armed with multiple weapons and shot a Secret Service officer before being apprehended. The injured officer is expected to recover.

This incident is another concerning threat against President Donald Trump, adding to previous assassination attempts and an armed intruder incident at Mar-a-Lago. Authorities have secured Allen’s home and are awaiting approval for a search warrant to investigate further. President Trump described the suspect as troubled, referencing his manifesto. Allen’s sister mentioned his radical statements and possession of firearms, indicating his involvement in a group called “The Wide Awakes.”

Investigators believe Allen traveled from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C., by train with a stop in Chicago. Acting U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche stated that the motive is still under investigation, but it appears Allen was targeting administration officials. More details are expected as formal charges are filed.
