Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has developed a new defense system to enhance the capabilities of European countries against modern threats.
Signed in 2024 for approximately 560 million euros, this agreement is part of a trend to strengthen strategic partnerships between Israel and its allies. Israel’s Ministry of Defense, through its export division, oversaw the delivery, which includes training and operational knowledge transfer.
According to Israeli authorities, the Barak MX system is designed to counter a wide range of threats, such as drones, combat aircraft, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles. Its deployment in Slovakia is expected to bolster NATO’s defense system in the region.
Beyond the military aspect, this agreement involves increased industrial cooperation between the two countries, including technology transfers and the development of local production capacities.
Israeli Defense Minister, Israel Katz, praised this delivery as a demonstration of Israel’s industry expertise and its ability to meet growing international demand. He also mentioned a growing interest from other countries in such systems, hinting that new agreements could be reached soon.
This delivery is part of a recent series of major contracts signed by Israel abroad, including with Germany for the Arrow 3 missile defense system, one of the largest agreements ever made by the Israeli defense industry.
