The African cinema will be showcased in Paris from May 6 to 10 for the 13th edition of Nollywood Week, held at Cinema L’Arlequin. This festival, which has become a must-see event, will feature around twenty works from Nigeria, as well as from Ghana, Kenya, and Cameroon.

Organized by the association Okada Media, the event stands out as the main European showcase for English-speaking African cinema.

Thomas Ngijol in the spotlight

As the sponsor of this edition, Thomas Ngijol embodies the connection between the continent and its diaspora. He will kick off the festival and on May 9, will present his film “Indomptables,” filmed in Cameroon, followed by a discussion with the audience.

This choice is symbolic for a festival that highlights contemporary stories and hybrid identities.

An industry undergoing significant changes

Beyond the screenings, Nollywood Week offers panels, conferences, and professional meetings, with a clear objective: to strengthen the international visibility of African productions.

The partnership with the Nigeria International Film Summit illustrates this ambition by facilitating connections between African producers and European distributors.

In a rapidly growing sector, Nollywood – the world’s second-largest industry in terms of volume – confirms its influence. In Paris, the festival more than ever stands out as a strategic platform for presenting Africa in a different light.
