The Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdelatty, emphasized the crucial importance that the state gives to the Arab region, being a strategic pillar and a foundation of Egyptian national security.
Abdelatty made these remarks during a meeting on Thursday with the President of the Arab Affairs Committee at the House of Representatives, Mohamed Abou Hemeila, to discuss ways to revitalize mechanisms of common Arab action and coordinate efforts in support of national interests, while also supporting the security and stability of the region.
During the meeting, Abdelatty expressed pride in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ collaboration with the House of Representatives and its various committees. He highlighted the importance of coordination with Arab partners to address growing common regional challenges and strengthen Arab solidarity in the face of rapid developments and successive crises in the region.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister also reviewed efforts to strengthen bilateral relations with fraternal Arab countries, emphasizing the importance of parliamentary diplomacy and the activation of friendship groups to enhance institutional ties with Arab parliaments.
He also underscored the importance of continuing efforts to support the fundamental principles of Egyptian foreign policy, particularly respecting the sovereignty of states, rejecting foreign interference in Arab affairs, and promoting areas of economic cooperation and investment among fraternal Arab countries.
On his part, Abou Hemeila expressed the Arab Affairs Committee’s commitment to continuing cooperation and ongoing coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to support the steps and priorities of Egyptian foreign policy in the Arab arena, and actively contribute to safeguarding Egyptian and Arab national security parameters amidst current challenges.
