A new Iranian proposal is “under review,” said White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt, following reports that Tehran made a new offer through Pakistani mediators.

“The offer ‘is better than we thought’ but ‘we must ensure that any agreement reached definitively prevents them from having nuclear weapons at any time,'” emphasized Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Stability and security in the Gulf require “credible guarantees” for Iran against any new American-Israeli attacks, said the Iranian ambassador to the United Nations.

“A lasting stability and security in the Gulf and the region at large can only be guaranteed by a lasting and permanent cessation of any aggression against Iran, accompanied by credible guarantees of non-repetition and the full respect of Iran’s legitimate sovereign rights and interests,” stated Amir Saeid Iravani during a Security Council session.

Lebanon’s Ministry of Health announced that Israeli strikes in the southern part of the country killed four people, including a woman, and injured 51, including three children, despite the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon.

According to an AFP count based on the Health Ministry’s figures, Israeli strikes have killed at least 40 people in Lebanon since the fragile truce began on April 17.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot stated that Iran must make “major concessions” in peace talks to end the war in the Middle East.

“There will be no durable solution to this crisis without the Iranian regime making major concessions and a radical change in posture,” he said during a meeting of the UN Security Council.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz warned that Hezbollah’s leader is “playing with fire,” and this will lead to disaster for Lebanon.

“Naïm Qassem is playing with fire, and that fire will burn Hezbollah and the entire Lebanon,” said Israel Katz to UN envoy to Lebanon, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert.

The head of the UN maritime agency reaffirmed that there is “no legal basis” for a passage right in the Strait of Hormuz that Iran wants to establish.

“There is no legal basis for the introduction of any tax, customs duty, or fees on straits used for international navigation,” said the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Arsenio Dominguez.
