Regional Football 2: Sébastien Navarri will pass the torch at the end of the season to FC des Graves

Over the seasons, despite a constant concern to prevent this pitfall, I felt like I was becoming redundant. In recent months, I experienced the feeling of reaching the end of the adventure, no longer being fully able to maintain the good collective dynamic and/or of not sufficiently progressing the group. This feeling gradually led me to make the decision today that would best serve the interests of the club.

Interviewer: Was this not easy for you?

Not really, especially when you consider human relationships, but after long months of reflection – setting aside emotions – this choice became clear to me.

Interviewer: Will you take on other roles within the club?

It is a possibility that I will discuss with my president, Christophe Champeaud, shortly. As of today, none of this has been discussed, let alone decided.

Interviewer: Could you coach another club other than FC des Graves?

At the moment, clearly no. I have only known one club, I feel very comfortable there, and I believe I can still be useful in a new role to be defined.

Interviewer: What are your best memories?

I have many, some more poignant than others. The climb – historic for the club – to Regional 1 in 2022 and the 6th round of the Coupe de France played unfortunately behind closed doors, against Arlac-Mérignac (N3 at the time), during Covid are at the top of the list. The match against Boé to secure promotion to R1, the series of ten unbeaten matches in 2024 are also very good memories.

Interviewer: What about the not-so-good memories?

I have been spared, or at least I have not retained any. Perhaps during the 2024-2025 season when I struggled a lot to find the keys to reignite the team’s dynamic.

Interviewer: What future do you envision for FC des Graves?

FCG is a unique club, transparent, familial, where human values take a central place. Sportingly, it must be able to maintain its place in the second regional tier, which will become increasingly challenging with the pyramid hierarchy tightening and the constant technical and athletic progression at this level. However, to achieve this without compromising its core values, it will need to be more demanding, more competitive in its preparation and approach to matches.

Interviewer: What will be your message on the evening of May 24 after your last match as FCG’s coach?
