The Magnolia High School FFA Chapter celebrated a significant achievement at the Arkansas FFA State Convention, where they received a record number of honors and recognition across various leadership and career development events. This successful appearance at the state convention is considered one of the best in the chapter’s history.

Among their accomplishments, the Magnolia FFA members secured six state championships, three state runner-up finishes, one State Star Finalist recognition, one Top 4 finalist placement, four State FFA Degrees, and Conduct of Chapter Meeting Team state qualification. Additionally, the chapter was named the Southern District Sweepstakes Runner-Up, showcasing their overall excellence.

The Conduct of Chapter Meeting Team advanced to the state level and was acknowledged as a State Finalist. Individually, several members achieved top honors in leadership development events. Michael Boyd was crowned State Champion in the Job Interview Leadership Development Event, qualifying him for Nationals in October. He also received an Arkansas FFA Foundation Scholarship. Tatum Carter earned a Top 4 Finalist placement in the Discussion Meet LDE.

In the Agriscience Fair, Magnolia students excelled in research and innovation. Michael Boyd and Tatum Carter were named State Champions in Division 6 Plant Science, while Shelby Gill and Baylee Kinnaird earned State Runner-Up honors in Division 6 Social Systems.

Furthermore, Magnolia FFA members stood out in Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) Proficiency Awards, recognizing students for their work experience and entrepreneurship in agriculture. Several students were acknowledged at the state level, including Jerry Barnes, Savannah Allhands, Jaber Abbaspour, Hayden Cook, Tatum Carter, and Michael Boyd.

Four Magnolia FFA members received the prestigious State FFA Degree, the highest honor bestowed by the Arkansas FFA Association at the state level. Recipients included Savannah Allhands, Michael Boyd, Hayden Cook, and Shelby Gill. Michael Boyd was also recognized as a State Star Finalist in Placement.

In a noteworthy development, Shelby Gill has committed to pursuing a degree in agricultural education at Southern Arkansas University, continuing her dedication to the future of agricultural education.

Ryan Blackwell, the chapter’s spokesperson, praised the students for their dedication, hard work, and leadership, emphasizing the valuable skills learned through agricultural education that extend beyond the classroom.

The Magnolia FFA Chapter remains a powerhouse in agricultural education, offering a comprehensive approach that includes classroom instruction, leadership development, and real-world experience through FFA and SAE programs.
