Drones and Russian missiles have killed at least 5 and injured 46 in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro, authorities said on Saturday.

The bodies of four people were found in the ruins of a house destroyed during the nighttime attacks, said Oleksandr Hanzha, governor of Dnipropetrovsk oblast.

“The Russians have hit Dnipro and other cities and localities practically all night,” Mr. Hanzha wrote on Telegram about the attacks, which caused fires throughout the city and partially destroyed several residential buildings, shops, and a private house.

Another person was killed on Saturday afternoon in another Russian attack on Dnipro, according to Mr. Hanzha, in the same residential area affected by the nighttime strikes. He said a total of 46 people were injured.

In southwest Ukraine, two people were injured in drone attacks during the night in the Odessa region. Residential buildings, port infrastructure, and cars were damaged in the southern part of the region, Governor Oleh Kiper said on Saturday.

In Russia, a woman was killed and a man seriously injured in a Ukrainian drone strike in the border region of Belgorod, local officials said.

Following the nighttime attacks, the Romanian Ministry of Defense stated on Saturday that drone fragments had been found in a residential area of Galați in the southeastern part of the country, near the border with this NATO member and Ukraine. No casualties were reported.

Romania has repeatedly confirmed the presence of drone fragments on its territory.

These nighttime attacks followed a prisoner exchange on Friday, during which 193 military personnel returned to their respective countries.

These periodic prisoner exchanges have been one of the few positive outcomes of otherwise unsuccessful negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv under the auspices of the United States. The talks have made no progress on the key issues hindering the end of the Russian invasion of its neighbor, now entering its fifth year.

During a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine was willing to continue peace talks with Russia in Azerbaijan.

“We have already held such discussions – in Turkey and with our American partners in Switzerland,” he emphasized. “We are also ready for the next negotiations in Azerbaijan, if Russia is ready for diplomacy.”
