For the upcoming season, the Professional Football League has redesigned the scheduling of the nine Ligue 1 matches, which will now be exclusively broadcasted on their platform.

New schedule for Ligue 1. Starting from the 2026-2027 season, the LFP is introducing a new grid for the top division. “We have a significant evolution in the scheduling,” said Jérôme Cazadieu, editorial director of Ligue 1+ on the show “After FC.”

Having all the matches exclusively on Ligue 1+ allowed for a complete overhaul of the French league’s schedule. The aim is to offer “clearer and more symmetrical appointments for subscribers.” Three prime-time matches will be scheduled at 8:45 pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. On Saturday night, a multiplex featuring four games will also be broadcasted.

Possible adjustments: “The multiplex is one of the revelations of the season in terms of audience, it works very well,” highlights Jérôme Cazadieu. Historically associated with Saturday night, this format fits the viewing habits of the audience present in front of the TV on that day. “It’s a family slot, so it’s particularly suitable,” he explains. The schedule is thus better optimized for football fans.

Another match will be scheduled on Saturday at 5:15 pm. On Sunday, in addition to the 8:45 pm fixture, two matches will take place at 3 pm and 5:15 pm. However, this organization raises questions about player recovery, especially for clubs involved in European competitions on Thursdays. “Using this season as an example, we would have had to move the Saturday 8:45 pm multiplex to Sunday 5:15 pm twice,” explains the channel’s editorial director.

If necessary, adjustments will be possible: “If we can’t keep the Saturday multiplex to respect recovery times, it will be moved to Sunday. A team playing on Thursday will always play on Sunday.” These adaptations will depend on the number of clubs involved in the Europa League and Conference League next season.
