Behind the scenes, a real collective machine is starting up. This Sunday evening, all the teams of New Caledonia’s La 1ère will be mobilized to bring the municipal elections live. Journalists, technicians, and production teams will work together to inform the New Caledonians as the votes are counted.

A precise coordination in control

At the heart of the setup is the control room. This is where the entire electoral evening is coordinated. Studio cameras, images from the teams on the field, graphic design—everything is orchestrated live. The key is constant communication between the teams. The editor-in-chief guides the editorial content, while the script coordinator works with the director to anticipate each sequence.

In parallel, the editorial teams remain in constant contact with the journalists present in the municipalities to organize their live interventions.

Teams deployed in 14 municipalities

Throughout the evening, 14 municipalities in the territory will be covered by the editorial journalists. On-site, they will follow the ballot counting and transmit the first trends as soon as the polls close. To ensure the quality of the broadcasts, a technical setup will accompany the teams in the field.

A dedicated results unit

Another essential link is the results collection unit. The figures transmitted from the municipalities will be verified and computerized. Once validated, the data will be sent to the studio and presented live by a journalist, accompanied by tables detailing the scores of the various lists. A graphic setup that will allow viewers and internet users to clearly follow the evolution of the vote.

A major democratic rendezvous

Technical, editorial, image, sound, or infographics: all the services of NC La 1ère will participate in this electoral evening. An engagement commensurate with the stakes.

“It is an important moment in the country’s democratic life. Municipal elections—it is they who will regulate the daily lives of the New Caledonians, so we had to be present,” concluded the director of information Olivier Gelin.

The special municipal elections evening can be followed this Sunday starting at 7 pm, on television, radio, on the website, and social networks of NC La 1ère.
