The Louvre Museum is offering a unique cinema cycle titled “The Body on Screen” as part of its exhibition “Michel-Ange Rodin.” This program explores the connection between sculpture and the 7th art in portraying the human body.

The cinema selection, running from April 24th to June 17th, 2026, includes eight films curated to complement the exhibition. From directors Pasolini to Claire Denis, and from Resnais to Cocteau, the cycle delves into how cinema shapes, illuminates, and reinvents the human body.

Highlighted themes such as the artistic process, unfinished works, body transformations, and the tension between flesh and vital energy enrich the innovative artistic laboratory through moving images. The films chosen examine the physical presence as material, form, or dramatic tension, creating a dialogue between sculpture and film.

The cycle includes films like “Beau Travail” by Claire Denis, “Last Year at Marienbad” by Alain Resnais, and “Medea” by Pier Paolo Pasolini. These films present radical visions of the body, expressing sensuality, volume, and tragic power through cinematic storytelling.

Upcoming screenings feature works like “Beauty and the Beast” by Jean Cocteau and “La Belle Noiseuse” by Jacques Rivette, exploring metamorphoses and artistic creation through the lens of the body. The cycle will conclude with a special screening of “Rodin and Michel-Ange, the Chant of Statues,” a documentary exploring the dialogue between the two sculptural giants.

This exceptional cinema experience seeks to extend the dialogue initiated by the Michel-Ange Rodin exhibition, offering a unique perspective on how cinema interprets and frames the human body. The screenings will take place at the Auditorium Michel Laclotte at the Louvre Museum from April 24th to June 17th, 2026.
