Pratt & Whitney Expands Industrial and Maintenance Capabilities in the US and Morocco

The engine manufacturer of the RTX group is simultaneously expanding its industrial and maintenance capacities in the United States and Morocco to support the growth of its engine programs, particularly the GTF.

Pratt & Whitney Canada announces the opening of a new factory in Nouaceur, Morocco, dedicated to the production of machined parts for its engines, including the PT6 family. The 130,000 square foot site (approximately 12,000 m2) is expected to create around 200 jobs by 2030 and support the industrial ramp-up of the group. This expansion aims to strengthen a more resilient global supply chain, while developing local skills.

In parallel, Pratt & Whitney is investing over $100 million in three maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) sites in the United States, located in Texas, Florida, and Arkansas. These investments aim to increase the maintenance capacity of the GTF engine, particularly through infrastructure expansion and equipment additions.

The group is allocating $78 million to a new 500,000 square foot site in Texas for managing used parts, $20 million in Florida to increase MRO capacity by 40%, and $4.7 million in Arkansas to develop repairs integrating additive manufacturing. These initiatives are expected to improve processing speed and reduce engine downtime.

Furthermore, a $70 million expansion in Georgia in 2026 has also increased the annual capacity of the Columbus site by over 25%. In total, the global GTF network comprises 21 engine centers and approximately 40 component repair workshops, with over 2,700 aircraft already delivered equipped with this engine.

The stock is down 2.9% on Wall Street.
