The extension of the ceasefire between Iran and the United States was supposed to end theoretically on Tuesday night, Wednesday, Tehran time. A new round of talks is planned in Islamabad, Pakistan between Iran and the United States.

The ceasefire between the United States and Iran is set to expire “Wednesday night, Washington time,” said US President Donald Trump on Monday, April 20th to Bloomberg Agency, as reported by CNN. If American demands are not met by then, “a lot of bombs will explode,” added the US president, this time on PBS, after earlier threatening to “annihilate an entire civilization.”

Donald Trump also stated on his Truth Social network that he would only lift the American blockade on Iranian ports in the event of an “agreement” with Iran.

“The BLOCKADE, which we will not lift until there is a ‘DEAL,’ is completely destroying Iran,” wrote the US president in a message sharply criticizing the conflict coverage by American media.

In the same publication, Donald Trump assured that he is “winning a war, by far!” “They are losing $500 million a day, an unsustainable figure for them, even in the short term,” he added.

A new round of talks planned in Islamabad

While the United States has announced a new round of talks in Islamabad, Pakistan, Iran states that there is “no clear prospect of fruitful negotiations.”

Tehran has not yet “at this stage” a “plan for the next cycle of negotiations and no decision has been made on this matter,” according to the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Esma’il Bagha’i, casting doubt on “the seriousness” of the United States in the diplomatic process.

An Iranian media report suggests that a lifting of the American naval blockade would be a prerequisite for discussions with Washington.
