Laurent Sciarra discusses in the columns of Le Progrès the possible arrival of Tony Parker on the bench of ASVEL next season. And the former French point guard does not spare the current president of the Villeurbanne club.

Laurent Sciarra (52 years old) criticizes Tony Parker. A few hours before Monaco welcomes a team from ASVEL at Gaston-Médecin for the 27th round of the Betclic Elite, the former French point guard (113 caps) did not hold back towards the emblematic president of the Villeurbanne club.

Invited by our colleagues from Le Progrès to discuss the potential takeover of “TP” as the coach of the team next season, replacing current coach Pierric Poupet, the 2001 French runner-up with ASVEL, known for not holding back, did not hesitate to criticize his successor as the orchestra conductor of the Blues.

“Maybe Tony, who is hyperactive, is bored? I think he will quickly realize that it is better to take care of horses than to coach. Coach, it’s a tough job!”, confided the now TV consultant Monaco, before commenting on the local channel about the second consecutive defeat (87-83) of Mike James and his teammates against the 5th place team.

Sciarra: “Miracles happen in Lourdes, not in Lyon!”

A true sensation in the eyes of specialists, and probably for Sciarra, who was not surprised to see the Rhodaniens, abandoned during the season by one of their leaders Nando De Colo (“we were sold a crazy project,” according to the former Pro B coach), finish last in the Euroleague.Miracles happen in Lourdes. Not in Lyon!”

The Olympic silver medalist from the 2000 Sydney Olympics with the Blues even believes that Poupet deserves a lot of credit. “He tried to make his team play well with the squad he had.” What will happen with Parker if he decides, as one might think, to give up his role as a leader in favor of becoming a coach? Sciarra is waiting to see if this will be confirmed. “It remains to be seen what Tony wants to do…”
