On the eleventh day of war in the Middle East, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that Tuesday, March 10, would be “the most intense day of strikes” on Iran since the war began on February 28. These remarks came the day after Donald Trump declared that the war was “almost over.” Meanwhile, the Israeli army announced on Tuesday evening that they had launched a “wave of strikes” on Tehran. Donald Trump warned Iran of significant “military consequences” if they mined the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20% of global oil and natural gas production normally transits.
The US Defense Secretary reiterated that Tuesday would be “the most intense day of strikes” on Iran. Trump also warned of severe military consequences if Iran laid mines in the Strait of Hormuz. The US military also reported destroying 16 Iranian mine-laying boats near the Strait of Hormuz.
Pentagon reported that around 140 US soldiers have been injured since the beginning of the war in Iran, with most injuries being light. Eight soldiers are still deemed seriously injured. Previously, seven US soldiers were reported killed in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
New explosions were heard in Tehran on Tuesday evening, following Washington’s threats of the most intense bombings of the war on Iran. Subsequently, the Israeli army announced a “wave of strikes” on Tehran.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guards fired another missile salvo at Tel Aviv and US targets in the Middle East. Iranian military claimed to have targeted military and intelligence centers in Israel. Explosions were also heard in Bahrain’s capital as Iran continued retaliatory strikes across the Gulf region.
The French presidency announced a G7 meeting on Wednesday to discuss the economic consequences of the war in the Middle East, notably the energy situation and measures to mitigate them. President Macron suggested that G7 countries might tap into their strategic oil reserves to alleviate the price hike caused by the war.
