French singer Zazie, an emblematic figure of the French music scene, has been captivating audiences for over thirty years with her poetic writing, mischievous humor, and unique voice. From “Zen” to “Je suis un homme,” the 62-year-old artist has always maintained a free and sincere image, far from the norms of celebrity. When she leaves The Voice stages or concert venues, she retreats to a timeless refuge at the heart of Greece, a place she loves to escape to, away from the media frenzy and show-business artifices.

Passions of Zazie in Greece

In an interview with Santé Magazine in 2017, Zazie fondly spoke of this tranquil place that she considers a true cocoon. “I bought a small fisherman’s house in the depths of Greece ten years ago.” There, she enjoys going with her family, saying “I go with my teenage daughter, her friends, and mine. There is no drinking water, but we feel good.” This simple and authentic house, hidden in a remote corner of the country, allows her to reconnect with nature and the essentials. Away from all luxury, the singer rejuvenates herself amidst the rhythm of the sea and sun. She loves to disconnect, admitting “I swim, I bought big fins for snorkeling, to be in the silence of oneself, weightless. Underwater, it’s so beautiful,” she shared, almost moved by the calm and beauty of the place.

A “pirate’s house” in the Peloponnese

This claimed simplicity perfectly reflects Zazie’s philosophy: a search for balance, nature, and serenity. This Greek refuge is her way of regaining anonymity, of simply being Isabelle de Truchis de Varennes, far from the spotlight. A year later, in 2018, while promoting her album “Essenciel,” Zazie once again opened up to the site Je Suis Musique, talking about this cherished home in her heart. “I have a little pirate’s house in Greece, in the Peloponnese. The water is not drinkable, it’s a very root-like place, but it remains a magical place.”

This house is accessible after a long journey, as the singer humorously describes it with philosophy, “The journey to get there is very long… I rarely take the plane to go there, and then I have over four hours to get there. I endure this time because we all want to teleport ourselves on vacation, like pressing an on-off button. But I realized that this transport time does me good.”
