The recent citizen rally of the Defense cadets in Var brought together 240 middle school students for a day of immersion in Defense careers.

Var recently hosted a significant event for youth with the “citizen rally” of the Defense cadets. This event, which was very successful, gathered 240 8th grade students from various schools in Var. Divided into eight cadet centers, they were welcomed at several regiments and units in the department for a day of discovery and exchange.

The main event took place at the Air Aviation School of the Army (EALAT) located in Cannet-des-Maures, where the youth participated in a dozen interactive workshops.

The objective of this day was to offer a concrete immersion into the diversity of Defense national careers and missions and to pass on the values of commitment to serving the country. This initiative is the result of collaboration led by the academic trinity, involving the national education, the academic direction of national education services (DSDEN), and the Institute of Higher Studies of national Defense (IHEDN) Var Mediterranean.

Several partners, including the Military Delegation Department (DMD) of Var, also contributed to the success of the operation, which is part of a school orientation approach.

The 240 cadets came from eight centers hosted by prestigious units: 1st Chasseurs Regiment of Africa (1st RCA), 3rd Marine Artillery Regiment (3rd RAMA), 21st Marine Infantry Regiment (21st RIMA), 54th Artillery Regiment (54th RA), 519th Train Regiment (519th RT), 7th Civil Security Military Training Formation (7th RIISC), Amphibious Flotilla (FLOPHIB), and Mediterranean Maritime Gendarmerie Group (GGMARMEDI).

The feedback from the supervisors is particularly positive, highlighting the interest and maturity of the young participants, who were very engaged in the different workshops offered.

“The exchanges with the different groups of Defense cadets were particularly enriching and stimulating. They allowed us to measure their curiosity and the relevance of their questions at each stand. The workshop presented at the gendarmerie stand, dedicated to technical and scientific police, with my civilian reserve teammate, Jean-Noël David, was very well appreciated by the participants, especially due to the realistic situation simulations,” said Sergeant Nicolas Moulin, Deputy Chief of the Gendarmerie Reserve Service in Var.

“By offering direct contact with military personnel and gendarmes, this rally allowed for the awakening of potential vocations and strengthened the essential link between the army and youth. The event is described by its organizers as a meaningful and future-oriented experience, reinforcing the commitment of young generations to the challenges of national defense,” Mr. Moulin concluded.
