1986: “Chaban, money!”
From smiles to tears. Newly promoted, the Dogues climb to the elite in early May. Ten days later, dozens of hockey players are demonstrating on Sainte-Catherine Street. Sticks in the air. “Chaban, money!” Meanwhile, the mayor has “halted the spectacular progression” of the club.
1988-1991: The Bordeaux Hockey Team
The Bordeaux hockey team’s constant progress does not escape Claude Bez. The ambitious president of the Girondins envisions expanding his club’s horizons, with the Dogues leading the way. In 1988, the BHC becomes a section, adopting blue and scapular. Recruitment on all fronts to achieve the goal: an immediate return to the elite and a title within three years. Close.
1992: Players are champions… Not the club
“The national committee has decided to award the title of French champions to Bordeaux players, based on their performances. However, the club will not be credited with this title.” The decision, published in “Sud Ouest” a few days after the Division 1 final victory, deprives Bordeaux hockey of the title.
2003-2004: Exile at the Lac
Localized season. Reason: construction work. Mériadeck is getting a makeover. The hockey players suffer in exile at the Antennes du Lac sports center, on a barely fresh ice rink, without heating, without a complete scoring table, without changing rooms, and without stands. Closed doors throughout the season.
1974-2026: Nested dolls
Bordeaux hockey is a matter of Russian dolls. In the Boxers de Bordeaux, a little of the Bordeaux Gironde Ice Hockey Club, followed by Bordeaux Gironde Hockey 2000, Bordeaux Gironde Hockey Club (the Aquitains de Bordeaux), the Girondins de Bordeaux Hockey Club, and the Bordeaux Hockey Club. Six clubs, three bankruptcies.
