Ski halfpipe, cross-country skiing, women’s curling, ice hockey, and men’s bobsleigh. Five Olympic titles are still to be awarded at the Milan Cortina Games, on Sunday, February 22, before the closing ceremony in Verona and the relay to the 2030 Winter Olympics in the French Alps. -Absences in the women’s 50km cross-country skiing race. Swedish skier Jonna Sundling has withdrawn due to “cold symptoms,” announced the Scandinavian team’s management. Several other members of the Swedish team have been infected with a virus for more than a week, including double Olympic champion Frida Karlsson who gave up on this race on Saturday. Julie Pierrel and Cloé Pagnier will represent France.
-The ski halfpipe event was held this morning. Initially scheduled for Saturday, it was postponed due to snowfall in Livigno. Chinese-American skier Eileen Gu, 22, the defending champion in halfpipe, will try to win a third medal in these games.
-A dream final in hockey. The United States and Canada face off in a dream final at 2:10 p.m. Since the 2014 Sochi Olympics, NHL stars, considered the best professional league in the world, had boycotted the Olympic tournament. And for their return, they have not disappointed, with goals, excitement, and suspense.
-A beautiful closing ceremony. From 8:30 p.m., sports will give way to art and spectacle in Verona, known worldwide as the setting of Romeo and Juliet’s drama, to conclude the Italian Olympic fortnight, including the traditional athletes’ parade.
