Ambroise Paget, representing ESF de Combloux, won the giant slalom for trainees in Courchevel on Thursday. He described his career as “a bit funny” when asked about his journey. “It’s been five years since I started, I even had my booklet extended, so winning today is cool,” he said with a smile. Paget, a 26-year-old skier, has experience in FIS competitions, including a second place in giant slalom in Val-Thorens in 2018 and multiple top 10 finishes. He has also competed in the Europa Cup but emphasized that he was not in a group. In recent years, he has shifted from alpine skiing to skicross, achieving success with podium finishes, including a victory in Saisies in March 2025. Paget expressed his desire to join the World Cup group and excel on the circuit in the future.

Looking ahead, Paget hopes to turn his family into a generation of skiers, despite not coming from a skiing background. “We are not a big skiing family [Editor’s note: his father does cross-country skiing and his brother does biathlon]. But it’s changing. My sister is a ski instructor, and I think for the next generations, we will be this big family of skiers.”

His family includes ESF, which has supported him since he was a child. Despite being a trainee instructor for five years, Paget paused his studies to pursue his glory ambitions. He plans to focus on slalom next year after participating in the Challenge for three years. “There will be more Challenges, but not right away. Before that, I would like to have a real career in skicross,” he announced.
