In addition to his on-ice accomplishments – he is considered one of the NHL’s top penalty killers and faceoff specialists – Pageau also serves as a reliable mentor in the team’s locker room. With 14 years of experience, he has been a valuable role model for younger players, including Simon Holmstrom, whom he has guided both on and off the ice.

“He’s been a great mentor for me, offering support during my initial years in the league,” Holmstrom stated. “I enjoy spending time with him, playing alongside him and [Anders] Lee. He is an integral part of our team.”

Pageau and Holmstrom have developed strong chemistry as linemates, contributing significantly to the Islanders’ penalty kill. Pageau’s 24 shorthanded goals and 46 shorthanded points place him second in the league among active players since 2012-13. Moreover, his 26 shorthanded points with the Islanders rank as the fifth-highest in franchise history.

“He always offers me advice, urging me to play with confidence and stay true to myself on the ice,” Holmstrom shared. “His support has boosted my confidence in the game. I am thrilled to have him on the team for the next three years.”
