Minister, could you explain the importance and results of Secretary General To Lam’s participation in the inaugural meeting of the Gaza Peace Council?
Secretary General To Lam’s official visit, along with a high-level Vietnamese delegation, to attend the opening meeting of the Peace Council in Gaza marks a significant multilateral and international diplomatic activity at the highest level by our Party and State since the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
This crucial foreign policy activity represents a milestone in implementing the independent, autonomous, self-reinforcing, peaceful, friendly, cooperative, and development-focused foreign policy laid out in the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. It emphasizes Vietnam’s commitment to making positive and responsible contributions to peace, cooperation, sustainable development, as well as addressing common regional and international issues.
In line with Secretary General To Lam’s vision of “Promoting Global Foreign Relations to a New Level,” this new phase was achieved through this important multilateral foreign policy activity. It reflects Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts to promote peace in the Middle East, safeguard the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to establish a Palestinian state in the region. This visit also strengthens Vietnam’s relations with the host country and international partners, especially in the Middle East.
During the meeting, Secretary General shared Vietnam’s stance on the Middle East peace process and the Palestinian issue, reaffirming the Vietnamese people’s ideology of peace, rooted in their history of sacrifice and pursuit of peace.
The international and local media have applauded Vietnam’s and Secretary General To Lam’s engagement in the Gaza Peace Council, highlighting Vietnam’s commitment to global peace and development, as well as international recognition of Vietnam’s contributions.
Moving forward, specific research and roadmaps will be developed to implement the Peace Plan, focusing on three main areas. First, stabilize the situation in Gaza and ensure ceasefire implementation. Second, embark on a long-term reconstruction process for Gaza that addresses essential needs, rebuilds infrastructure, and gradually develops various economic sectors. Third, enhance infrastructure, capacity, and governance for Palestinians in Gaza.
Vietnam is poised to contribute its expertise in peacekeeping operations, security, social order, humanitarian aid, and post-conflict reconstruction, capitalizing on its experience from years of war. Vietnam will collaborate with international partners, including the United Nations, to strengthen peace efforts in the Middle East and Gazan regions, ensuring the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to statehood.
