The “Beliebers,” nickname for his fans, celebrate the return of pop superstar Justin Bieber, headlining the second day of the Coachella music festival.
Organized in the scorching desert of California, where the sun had already pushed the temperature to 30 degrees on Saturday morning, thousands of fans of the Canadian singer of “Baby” have taken over the site, sporting clothing, hats, and banners featuring their idol. Upon entering the site shortly after the gates opened, Alexis Sierra (28) summed up the mindset of many spectators:
“This is what I’ve been waiting for months.”
A Long Absence
Justin Bieber has not performed in front of an audience the size of Coachella since 2022, when he took the stage at Rock in Rio in Brazil before canceling the remainder of his international tour for health reasons. The singer had announced suffering from Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a complication associated with shingles that can cause facial paralysis.
About Coachella 🡕
Over the past year, he has gradually returned to the spotlight. In 2025, Justin Bieber released the album “Swag.” On that occasion, the star performed the single “Yukon” in his underwear at the Grammy Awards in February. The release was quickly followed by Swag II, his eighth studio album.
If he has recently given more intimate concerts, Coachella should mark his return on a large scale. He promised on Instagram this week:
“We will sing our hearts out Saturday.”
Live on Youtube
Coachella kicked off on Friday with performances by Sabrina Carpenter, Moby, and Devo, as well as surprise appearances by Lizzo, David Lee Roth, and Huntr/X, who performed their Oscar-winning song “Golden” at the Katseye sideshows.
The festival is taking place this weekend and the following one with almost identical lineups, and can be watched on Youtube. (btr/afp)
