Actor Daniel Radcliffe Opens Up About Overcoming Addiction and Finding Balance Through Fitness

Daniel Radcliffe has an addictive personality, and he knows it. His latest addiction, however, is more on the beneficial side, as the former Harry Potter star has become completely hooked on sports!

In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, the 36-year-old actor revealed that he has been following an intense fitness routine since overcoming his alcohol addiction. “I do weightlifting, circuit training, cardio. I don’t look like a fitness fanatic, but I am pretty intense about it,” he shared.

A Persistent New Addiction

Sober for over a decade, Daniel Radcliffe is well aware of this energy shift. “I feel like I am the cliché of a former alcoholic or anyone with an addictive personality who transitions to being addicted to sports,” he acknowledged with clarity.

In addition to quitting alcohol, Daniel Radcliffe also mentioned in the interview that he has stopped smoking. “I used to depend on coffee and cigarettes all day, and then I quit smoking. Now, I only depend on coffee,” he specified.

The actor, who is currently promoting his new series The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, seems to have found a balance that suits him. In an interview with Rolling Stone last month, he expressed being “at peace” with his past and his status as a “survivor” of his addictions.
