On Saturday, April 11, 2026, the CACEM (Communauté d’Agglomération du Centre de la Martinique) inaugurated its new term. Following the municipal elections, the 56 community representatives came together to officially kick off the period of 2026-2032.

Election Without Surprises

Didier Laguerre was elected this Saturday as the president of the intermunicipal council, which includes the municipalities of Fort-de-France, Le Lamentin, Schoelcher, and Saint-Joseph.

This choice indeed adheres to the principle of rotating presidency historically established among the member towns. Didier Laguerre thus succeeds Luc-Louison Clément. The fifty-year-old expressed himself after his election:

“The CACEM is a key player in Martinique. I hope that this mandate will allow us to meet the challenges of ecological transition, economic support, support for our youth, as well as mobility and transportation, which greatly disrupt the lives of residents.”
