Halfway through spring practice, Indiana football appears to have avoided a major injury that would cost anyone the 2026 season. However, the Hoosiers are dealing with their share of postseason surgeries and bumps and bruises as they return to the field.

Wide receiver Charlie Becker, who had a standout 2025 season, may be out for the rest of spring practice after suffering a hamstring injury. IU coach Curt Cignetti expressed uncertainty about Becker’s return, highlighting his importance to the team.

In Becker’s absence, sophomore receivers Davion Chandler and Lebron Bond have been standing out this spring. Meanwhile, Bray Lynch, who is vying for the center position, has been limited due to previous surgery and leg issues.

All-American left tackle Carter Smith is also sidelined for the spring after shoulder surgery. Additionally, running back Lee Beebe, Jr. and redshirt freshman Sean Cuono are unavailable due to injuries.

On a positive note, young tight ends Brock Schott and Trevor Gibbs are progressing well after offseason cleanup work. Cignetti is pleased with the development of redshirt freshman tight ends Andrew Barker and Blake Thiry.

Indiana concludes spring practice on April 23 with the spring game. For more coverage of IU football, visit the official website.
