In the plain of sports in the Berlioz district of Pau, a sports event was held to introduce and discover various sports. This neighborhood event took place three times a year in different neighborhoods. The first edition was held in Jeanne d’Albret, and the second in the Saragosse district.
Stands offering sports workshops were set up with instructors to guide people trying out the sport. The activities brought together leisure centers and schools, especially during school holidays.
Panna football, a one-on-one game where the goal is to pass the ball between the opponent’s legs and then score, was showcased at the event. About twenty different sports activities were available. Pau Béarn Handisport partnered with the initiative, offering wheelchair basketball and handball. The presence of the organization encouraged people with disabilities to explore sports and to be bold in trying new activities.
“Place au sport” also allowed children and parents to explore future extracurricular sports options for the September school term. Pyrénées Secours, a local emergency response association, provided first aid training such as CPR and emergency response techniques for children aged 10 and above. Nutrition information booths and the Sports Health House were also present to promote healthy living. The event aimed to showcase the various sports-related resources available in the city of Pau.
