From March 19 to April 2, 2026, second and third year students in Sports Management at the UFR STAPS in Nancy organized 5 projects on campus as part of their training.

This professional exercise allows them to face real conditions, with their advantages and constraints, while developing essential skills for their future careers in sports and event management.

A training between theory and practice

During their second and third years, students follow a course focused on events, marketing, and communication in the sports industry. Theoretical lessons are important, but they make sense through concrete practical applications.

Each project becomes a true learning experience for key skills: organization, teamwork, project management, and decision-making.

Thus, students worked together to imagine and organize 5 projects, taking into account all aspects, from conception to realization.

A professional experience

Organizing these events required rigor, organizational skills, and adaptability. Students had to coordinate teams, manage budgets, contact external partners, deal with unexpected events, and ensure the logistics and smooth running of the projects on the day.

Accompanied by their teachers, who advised and guided them, they were able to concretely discover all aspects of project management and develop skills directly useful for their professional future.

The five projects imagined and realized

These projects, carefully planned for several months, each had their own identity:

Stapsathlon – March 19, 2026 A revised biathlon organized at the Remicourt park, with tests requiring strength, agility, endurance, and speed.

GP STAPS – March 26, 2026 A soapbox race on campus inspired by the Mario Kart universe, combining performance, team spirit, and conviviality.

E-STAPS – March 26, 2026 An e-sports tournament to show that sports and digital go hand in hand, while promoting eco-responsible practices.

Smash La Faim – March 31, 2026 A solidarity event aiming to collect food and hygiene products redistributed to students in need through the Cop1 association.

La Coupe des 5 Filières – April 2, 2026 A competition bringing together students from the 5 branches of UFR STAPS: Education and Motor Skills, Sports Training, Sports Management, Sports Education and Motor Performance, and Adapted Physical Activity-Health.

These five events were successful and mobilized many students. They animated the campus throughout this period and welcomed several partners, while offering students a real-life project management experience.

Among them were the Tim & Bastien association, the Cop1 association, the Lorraine Soapbox Racing Committee (COLOCAS), the Franche-Comté Soapbox Racing Federation (FECOCAS), and the Recyclerie du Sport Lorraine association.

We thank them for their presence, as well as all those who contributed to the realization of these projects.
