On the evening of April 3, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, head of the National Steering Committee for International Integration, chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee.

At the conclusion of the conference, the Prime Minister called for foreign policy and international integration activities to be closely aligned with the imperatives of national development, directly contributing to the goal of double-digit growth. The conference was held in person at the government headquarters and online with people’s committees of provinces and cities across the country, as well as Vietnamese representatives abroad.

Among the participants were Le Hoai Trung, Politburo member and Minister of Foreign Affairs; Bui Thanh Son, Deputy Prime Minister and Vice Chairman of the Steering Committee; officials from ministries and central agencies; and leaders from provinces and cities.

The conference evaluated and institutionalized the main directions of foreign policy from the 14th National Party Congress and Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW on international integration in the new situation. The government quickly formulated and published its Action Program to implement Resolution 59, consisting of 22 objectives and 117 specific tasks for ministries, sectors, and localities covering the three pillars of international integration.

During the period from the beginning of the year to the present, the global situation has been extremely complex, directly affecting the country’s security and development, especially given the opening of the Vietnamese economy. Thanks to timely and appropriate leadership and economic policies, Vietnam has maintained stability and achieved remarkable development. Foreign relations and international integration have been proactively and systematically implemented on all fronts.

Several priority areas have been highlighted, including international financial centers in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, investments in infrastructure, digital transformation, science and technology, energy, and lifting the ban on illegal, undeclared, and unregulated fishing.

Looking ahead, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to continue to be proactive, optimistic, creative, innovative, and adaptable to the situation, avoiding dependence, complacency, negligence, and maintaining constant vigilance in foreign policy and international integration.

In particular, the Premier highlighted the importance of defending multilateralism, promoting international solidarity to create strength, cooperation to generate resources and material wealth, consultations, meetings, and participation in forums to consolidate and strengthen trust.

To achieve the above-mentioned goal, the Prime Minister called for a deep understanding and constant innovation in thinking, awareness, and action regarding foreign affairs and international integration in the new situation, contributing to the implementation of the foreign policy orientations of the 14th National Party Congress.
