President Donald Trump expressed urgency in a message shared on his Truth Social network on Saturday, April 4. As the conflict in the Middle East enters its sixth week, Trump put pressure on the Iranians. He reminded them of his ultimatum given on March 26 to either reach an agreement or reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Trump stated that there were only “48 hours before unleashing hell” on Iran. He ended his message with “Glory to God!” during the Easter weekend.

Following a previous ultimatum, Trump had announced in late March to suspend strikes on Iranian power plants until “Monday, April 6 at 8:00 p.m. Washington time.”

Shortly after this threatening message, Iranian authorities responded through the Chief of the Iranian Armed Forces Command. General Ali Abdollahi criticized the “aggressive and belligerent American president, who, after suffering successive defeats, futilely, unstably, nervously, and stupidly, threatened the infrastructure and property of Iran,” as reported by the state television on Telegram.
