Iran claims to have shot down an American plane during rescue operations
Iranian and American forces had been searching since Friday for the crew of the first American fighter jet to crash in Iran since the start of the war. The Iranian military had claimed to have shot down an F-15E fighter bomber on Friday.
American media had reported that one of the two crew members had been rescued, which Donald Trump confirmed on Sunday. “This is the first time in military memory that two American pilots have been rescued, simultaneously, in the heart of enemy territory,” he emphasized.
According to the Iranian news agency Tasnim, the Revolutionary Guards claimed that an American plane had been shot down during the rescue operations in the Isfahan region.
